Attendance

Schools are required by law to keep careful records of children's attendance, absence and lateness. This data is recorded on the end of year report and follows children through the Primary and Secondary School.

Parents/carers must always inform us by telephone, e-mail (tadam.millennium.greenwich@lgfl.net) , letter or in person as soon as it is known that children will be absent so that we can record the reason on the register.

If children are late for school but arrive before 9.30am they will receive a late mark. If they arrive after 9.30am this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence. This rule also applies to the afternoon session.

If this lateness is due to a medical or a dental appointment then it will be recorded as an authorised absence, but you must inform the office.

Parents/carers are asked to try to make any non-urgent appointments outside the school day so that children do not miss out on their education.

Annual Holidays

If you would like to request time off during term time for exceptional circumstances please ask the office for a form ‘Application for pupil leave of absence during term time’ which must be filled in prior to the absence.

Holidays must be taken in school holiday times, no holidays will be authorised during school term time.

At Millennium we have an ‘Attendance Cup’ which is awarded to a class each week who have had the best attendance and no ‘lates’ – the children are always proud to receive this award and will get extra play or a treat!

Please help us help the children to understand the importance of being in school and being on time – thank you.
