Our school building
We're really lucky. Our school has all of these lovely things!
Fully-equipped ICT suite.
Art & design area.
Cooking area.
Library.
Floodlit, all-weather pitch.
A lovely creative playground to explore.
Lockable cycle storage.
An interactive SMARTboard in each classroom.
Three computers in each classroom.
A "Pod" for groupwork (shared between two classrooms).
Lots of natural light.
Automatic sun-blinds to keep us comfortable as we work.
The school was designed by Edward Cullinan Architects for English Partnerships.
It consists of a central classroom block linked to two further blocks - a sports hall and dining area, and health centre. The main building has a steel frame with hollowcore Thermodeck floor units, through which air is pumped to heat or cool the buildings.
The classrooms are all south-facing to make the most of natural light. Light wells also flood the rear of each classroom with additional daylight. Automatic external blinds prevent glare.
The building is clad in timber and has some interesting features which include a raised play area (over the Extended Day facility) which the children affectionately refer to as "Tellytubby land".
