Extended day
The school is an "Extended Day" school and is open from 8.00am - 6.00pm for pupils and beyond this time, at weekends and holidays for use by the wider community.
There is an after-school play centre catering for up to 30 children which runs Mondays to Fridays from 3.30pm to 6.00pm. In addition, there are many after school clubs that children can attend, e.g. French, dance, footall, drumming etc...
There is an extended day provision offering both breakfast and after-school provision for children aged three to five years. We also have a breakfast club for children aged 5 years and over. Extended day care is designed to meet the needs of families for high quality child care outside school hours. At the Millennium School we are able to offer 16 fee-paying places to children attending the Foundation Classes. Priority is given to : parents training to return to work and parents in employment
Children are looked after by two qualified and experienced childcare workers in the Early Years Centre. During Term time there is a breakfast and tea-time session Monday to Friday. Breakfast session 8am –9 am Tea time session 3.30pm -6pm
Holiday care is available at Robert Owen Early Years Centre in East Greenwich, and can be booked through the Millennium Primary School.
Meals
Breakfast is available before school. It is a simple nourishing meal with a choice of cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt, milk or fruit juice. In the evenings a light tea is provided, such as baked beans on brown toast, jacket potato with cheese, pasta, with salad and fruit.
Children are encouraged to choose their food, and, wherever possible, help with its preparation, for instance by making sandwiches or cakes.
A home from home
Children in the extended day will have spent the day in a busy classroom. They will be tired and will need time to unwind and relax, sharing books, playing with friends, or watching Blue Peter. We hope to provide a caring, safe, and ‘home-like’ atmosphere.
There are two rooms. A ‘home’ room, with a well-equipped kitchen, tables, sofas, and a TV, is for eating and relaxing in. A selection of quiet activities are available, like drawing, looking at books or comics, and playing with smaller toys. The other room is a ‘playroom’ with tables for art and craft activities, and larger floor toys. There is also direct access to the F1 playground which is well equipped for physical play.
See Maureen Stokes in the School Office for details of prices and availability of places.
