Reporting progress
Assessment is part of the teaching and learning process and happens informally on a daily basis. Learning intentions are shared with the children at the beginning of each lesson and they are trained to evaluate their own learning and achievements. A child's progress is recorded in a systematic way at the end of each unit of work, and this information is transferred in the child's own assessment record which follows your child through the school, this also contains samples of work. In the Summer Term children in Year 2 and 6 take their SAT tests and children in Years 3, 4 and 5 take the National QCA tests, these tests provide a "snap shot" of what your child can do at that particular time. At the end of the Summer Term you will be given a written report about your child's achievements during the year.
