School Council
The school has a school council drawn from years 1 to 6 (approximately 20 pupils) which acts as a conduit for children's ideas from the grassroots to the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team. Each September a new council is formed.
The School Council are currently working on a special Creative Partnerships project with drama specialist Lottie Bailey, film-maker Charlotte Bill and songwriter Anthony Hussel. School staff involved are Amanda Dennison, Sarah Davies, Christo Kachelhoffer and Nicky Jones.
The project will raise the profile of the School Council within the school and empower the class representatives to voice ideas gathered from their peers and influence decisions about their school life.
The project aims to develop children's sense of themselves as individuals within a community and to develop their communication skills using the arts. It involves the children in decisions about how to make lunchtimes safe and happy as the number of children using the hall and playground increases.
This exciting project has already completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 starts in January when the elcted representatives will work in groups to involve classes, supported by a Creative Partnerships partner.
This initiative has come about because of requests made by school council members to learn more about how they can be further empowered to develop a safer environment at school.
