The School Day
* Foundation Stage AM Session 9.00am - 12.00pm Foundation Stage PM Session 1.00pm - 3.30pm
8.50 - 9.00 am Key Stage 1 & 2 children book in for Lunch Children should register for lunch then wait in the playground until the bell rings.
9.00 am. School Begins Teachers are in the playground at 8.55am to meet and greet. Children should be ready to come in and start work when the bell goes promptly at 9.00am. Please make sure your child is on time for school. Lateness means that children miss the beginning of the activity. It interrupts the lessons, and causes extra administrative work for staff who have to register late lunches.
10.15 am. Assembly In our assemblies we sing, reflect, seek to inspire awe and wonder, celebrate festivals, achievements and people's lives. We also focus on moral issues, which affect our every- day lives and encourage the development of values. Our school assemblies are non-denominational, however there are occasions when religious festivals and other important events are recognsed and discussed within the framework of the school's values. Children do not have to actively take part but we expect them to observe and further their understanding and knowledge of the different cultural and religious beliefs of the school community.
10.30 - 10.45am Playtime In the playgrounds there is a designated area for ballgames. Times are set aside for year groups to play ball games. Playtimes are always supervised by staff.
12.00 - 1.00pm (1.30 KS 1) Lunch Time See the section on "School Meals" for more details.
2.45 - 3.00pm Playtime
3.30pm School Finishes Please make sure that your children are collected on time from outside the classroom. If you are unavoidably delayed, always ring the school and let us know so that we can tell your child and avoid any unnecessary worry. We can make sure that your child waits safely outside the Offices where you can find her/him. Please do not ask your child to wait outside the school gate, as this can be very dangerous. Children must always be collected by 3.45pm, unless they are attending an after school activity.
After School Activities There are several days when football, cricket training, and music take place after school. You will be informed by letter about these activities and a permission slip will be enclosed for you to sign and return to the school. These sessions usually last about one hour.
